Without a real demonstration the only assumption that can reasonably
be made is your claim Has No Substance To It!!!!!!

Why? What would a demonstration prove?

Your demonstrated lack of proficiency in math is so great that a
third-grade math student rightfully expects to find more good math
in used toilet paper than in anything you write, and expects to get
an "F-", if not expulsion, if she turned in anything you wrote as
homework, and not because of plagiarism. (No self-respecting third
grader, or for that matter, termite, would claim your stuff as their
own. On the other hand, a self-respecting third-grade math teacher
might rip her eyes out after reading your stuff.)

Some hints for James Harris:

Don't claim to have "solved the factoring problem" until you can
factor an RSA challenge number. If you can get anyone to read it,
you might even use an already-factored challenge number if you can
show, step-by-step, how you got your answer, including all the false
steps with the "Pick an odd prime such that James Harris is God"
parts of the procedure. But factoring a previously unsolved number
will get you the attention you want.

Don't claim to have "solved the factoring problem" until you can
either factor 6 or make sure that your factoring "solution" doesn't
claim to be able to factor 6. It's really very, very elementary
math to state the range of numbers your proof is valid for.

Don't worry about what "the mathematical community" thinks or doesn't
think about your work. Worry about your reputation for bad math
with the third-grade student community first.

Don't worry about destroying the world with GOOD math. But I do
worry about you destroying the world with BAD math, should you ever
get a job that requires it, say, cashier at McDonalds.

It would prove that you have something worthwhile.

So what if I don't demonstrate with a factorization of a very large
number? What does that prove?

It proves that you don't learn from your mistakes.

Yawn. And you do? If so, why are you replying to me now?

Because I enjoy it. No mistake there as far as I can see. Perhaps you
enjoy spending weeks at a time claiming to have solved the factoring
problem when actually trying your method on a large number would make
it clear that you haven't, but if so then you probably shouldn't keep
making those posts in which you claim to value truth over "social
crap". Unless you enjoy looking like a hypocrite as well.

The simplest answer, if possible, may be to develop a working program
and turn it over the United States Government.

My major concern is that I will end up giving up on my dream of
restoring real mathematical research in number theory and leaping
humanity forward mathematically, and instead find myself at the heart
of military endeavors as my problem solving skills are turned instead
to activities that are invisible to the world.

If that happens none of your countries will have any chance of
competing with the US within your lifetimes or the foreseeable future,
and much of what I do will be invisible, but the impact will be
unstoppable.

James Harris

Yeah James, you could become like a secret govt agent, sort of like
"Get Smart". Yes, I can see it now. James pulls up to a glamorous
casino in Monte Carlo in his cherry red Ferrari, strides confidently
into the casino and orders his usual Martini at the bar (shaken not
stirred). A sexy Russian double spy with big ... eyes spots him and is
magnetically drawn to him. She comes over to James and asks him, in
almost a pleading voice, "Who ... who are you?" He casually puts down
his glass in a measured manner, and replies cooly with a slight
continental accent, "James...James Harris."

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Oh James, you're such a riot. ;>)

But seriously though James, you have a much bigger threat that
apparently even you have not thought about. What if extra-terrestials
get wind of your great advances? Isn't is possible that they could get
to you before you had a chance to aid the US govt in your clandestine
efforts? They could abduct you and then the benefit of all your
knowledge would go to them, and not the US. The world govt collapsing,
hell, this could be something that affects the whole universe! You
have to think of something quick James: millions of worlds could hang
in the balance!!!!

Make that a slight Scottish accent and "Harris ... Jamesh Harris".

The slight "sh" at the end of the James is essential.

(Sorry not to respond promptly, but I wasn't doing anything with

primes for several months, until just the past few days.)
Quote:
From: JSH <jst...@gmail.com
... the simplest way to consider what my factoring research does
is that while mathematicians have traditionally focused on one type
of congruence I use two:
1. x^2 = y^2 mod S
2. z^2 = y^2 mod T
where T is your target composite and S is what I call the surrogate,
and the concept I call surrogate factoring.

So, like, have you achieved any success with this line of research
after the several years you've spent on it already? For example,
can you factor this number (given in base 36)?
JSHBHIH
It has exactly two prime factors. Can you find them using your method?
If you can, please post the two primes (base 36 or base 10
notation, doesn't matter to me, I can convert easily enough), after
of course multiplying them together to verify they really do
produce the number I asked you to factor. Then briefly explain how
your method achieved that factorization.
On the other hand, if your method can't factor such a small number,
why not, what's wrong with your method??

If you succeeded above, and you have some more time to demonstrate
your skill at using your "surrogate" method to factor numbers,
please also factor these numbers (again, each shown in base 36,
each a product of exactly two primes):

JSHY5KTQB3SSCYTMFIP
JSHR7Y281PWTUZOPVR3D
JSHSRVJWDUHYPGO2SVEEJ
JSHZ92IZES503YAVCOMW4J

By the way, if any high school students are watching this thread,
here are some numbers that are trivial to factor (base 36 again):
